Artist's Introduction

Katun

KATUN is a Malaysian artist known for his distinctive graffiti style that blends darkness and light through a unique interpretation of Darwinism. Best recognized for his iconic ape characters seen throughout the streets of Kuala Lumpur, his work reimagines cartoon figures into humanistic silhouettes with bold, organic shapes inspired by disjointed limbs.
A co-founder of the Avantgarde art collective 4 Stages, KATUN has collaborated with major global brands including Marshall, JBL, Sony, Samsung, Toyota, Vans, Rip Curl, Foot Locker, and WWF. His work has attracted the attention of artists such as Chris Brown, Dua Lipa, and Post Malone, and he has received the Tatler Cultural Icon Award (2022) and the Prestige Luminary Award (2023). KATUN has also collaborated with Sony Entertainment on the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, further cementing his presence in the international art scene.
